Donny Donovan learned her music the old fashion way, by picking up a guitar and grinding it out. Carolyn Hilliard gained her expertise growing up as a trained musician and vocalist across various instruments and settings. Together, alongside Steve Hilliard at guitar and Glenn Durham at drums, they make up the indie-rock band with a new wave tinge, Dinosoul.
Hailing from the Steel City, they began as a band in 2016. Donovan, previously of punk rockers Hearken , brings forth her raw vocals and progressive rift making. Molded of their combined love for ‘80s new wave, Hilliard’s angelic vocals add an emotional backdrop to Donovan’s high throttle guitar.
The Underground eagerly welcomes Dinosoul on 4/29. Ticket presale for $10, $12 day of show. Learn more about Dinosoul by listening to our Original Slacker podcast episode, whereby Donny and Carolyn detail their challenges being a couple in a band together, along with their influences and the coincidences that led them to come up with their band’s name.
